Choose from Pre-built or Custom seeding profiles.

Standard Profiles

A SmartSeed profile represents areas in the country that track the highest volume of outbound mail.

Sample Map If you select the "Top 100 Cities" profile, for example, the top 100 cities will be seeded. GrayHair Software compiled these profiles by seeding the list of the top nationwide sites identified by the United States Postal Service as tracking the highest volume of outbound mail. You also have the option to include Puerto Rico, Alaska and Hawaii* as seeded areas.

There are currently three pre-built profiles: Top 100 Cities, Top 50 Cities and Top 30 Cities. When you select a profile, you have the option to view details such as a map and legend showing seed locations including states, cities, and ZIP codes indicated.

* If you choose to include Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico when selecting pre-built profiles, the following cities will be seeded: Waipahu, Hawaii; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Anchorage, Alaska.

Custom Profiles

You can also create and save your own custom profiles using pre-populated cities from each state to be seeded.

This enables you to create regional and local profiles tailored for your mailing. Build a new profile on-the-fly when you create a new job. Or, create profiles in advance so you are ready to go when it’s time for the mailing to be released. Custom profiles also allow users to associate multiple profiles to a mailing, if you have various versions that would benefit from such flexibility.
